An Ilyushin-76 jet takes you from Punta Arenas to Union Glacier camp from where you embark on your South Pole Overnight adventure. We spend two days at Union Glacier camp where we acclimatise to the cold, do some local sightseeing and complete final preparations for our South Pole flight.

A Basler aircraft takes us on a magical flight across Antarctica to 89 degrees south where you settle in to ANI's warm and comfortable South Pole camp. Dinner is prepared by the in-house chef and you can relax by reading or listening to the fascinating Antarctic lectures given by the staff and the night is spent in expedition tents warmed by the 24-hour daylight.

From the camp it's a short walk to the South Geographic Pole and the US station that surrounds it. A tour of the station gives an insight into the life of the expeditioners that live there and the work and research they undertake. You can buy some souvenirs at the store and get postcards stamped at the world's most southerly post office. There's plenty of time to take in the atmosphere of the South Pole so that you come away with a deep appreciation of this remote and unique location.

In the afternoon we are collected by Basler aircraft and returned to Union Glacier where we enjoy a sumptuous celebratory dinner.

You have the entire day at Union Glacier camp to rest from the long flights and to enjoy the spectacular surroundings. The following day we return to Punta Arenas.
