We meet you at Krasnoyarsk airport and transfer you to your hotel. The following day we board the Antonov-74 charter flight to Khatanga where we provide accommodation and meals at the hotel. After supplying you with your Arctic clothing we meet for a briefing about the trip followed by a local tour of local sites including the Mammoth museum.

We depart on the 5 hour Antonov-74 jet flight (refuelling at Cape Baranova in Severnaya Zemlya), landing at Barneo Ice Camp in the middle of the frozen Arctic Ocean. Located at approximately 89.20 degrees north, Barneo is a Swiss-owned temporary drift station that caters for the exclusive band of travellers that visit the North Pole every year. It will be your home for the next two days.

You will be escorted to your heated accommodation tent where you can make yourself at home. The tent is expansive and equipped with bunks and mattresses – a warm and comfortable haven. At first opportunity we will fly in the Mi-8 helicopter 40 minutes to the North Pole. To stand at the apex of the earth is a unique opportunity and you have two hours to soak up the experience. This enigmatic region is like no other on our planet; a frozen ocean where pressured ice and leads of open water dominate the landscape; where the skies are graced with 24-hour daylight; the point at which so much exploration history rests. The North Pole has a rich history and your guide will be happy to relate stories of struggle and achievement from centuries of Arctic exploration. Your guide can also take you on a short walk or you can simply spend your time filming, photographing and soaking up the experience.

We return to Barneo for a celebratory dinner and evening of chatting with explorers, scientists, guides and pilots from all over the world. The communal mess tent is the hub of social activities. Music, conversation and lectures are all found in this cocoon of warmth.

The following day you can relax in the comforts of camp or partake in a number of activities on offer including local walks. You can stand by the runway and watch the AN-74 arrive; a landing on ice is always a spectacle and a highlight of camp routine. The jet delivers a new band of adventurers and returns you to Khatanga for one night of accommodation and your onward flight to Krasnoyarsk.

North Pole Deluxe; the perfect tour for those short on time but high on adventure.
